Braun is one of the best-known names in home thermometers, and Age Precision is what sets the ThermoScan 7 apart: you tell it how old your child is, and it changes what counts as a fever.
Why age matters
A temperature of 37.8°C is a different conversation at four weeks old than it is at four years old. Rather than leaving you to interpret a bare number in the middle of the night, the ThermoScan 7 shows the reading against a colour-coded scale — green, amber or red — set for your child's age group.
Getting an accurate reading
- ExacTemp positioning guidance — the thermometer confirms the probe is correctly placed before it measures, and tells you if it moved mid-reading.
- Pre-warmed tip — a cold probe pulls a reading down; this one warms first.
- Wide-angle probe — sized to sit correctly in a newborn's ear canal as well as an adult's.
- Night light and backlit display — read it without turning the bedroom light on and waking everyone.
- Memory of nine readings — a single temperature tells you little; a trend tells you a lot.
Hygiene caps
Disposable probe covers keep the tip clean between uses and between family members, which matters when one bug is working its way through the household. Replacement caps are widely available.

We use it weekly. Fast, gentle and the nine-reading memory means I can actually see whether the temperature is coming down after medicine. Highly recommend.
Good solid thermometer. Instructions were clear and it’s comfortable for my daughter. Four stars only because it took me a minute to work out the age setting at first.
Compared it against the thermometer at our surgery and it was within 0.1°C. Very happy with it, feels sturdy and well made.
Green, amber, red — no more googling ‘is 37.8 a fever for a 2 year old’ in the middle of the night. Wish we had bought it with our first baby.
